Guanghong 3 is a conventional indica red rice variety developed by the Rice Research Institute of Guangdong Academy of Agricultural Sciences, with Jinguihuazhan as the female parent and Guanghong 1 as the male parent. It has the characteristics of high and stable yield, as well as salt alkali tolerance. It was approved by the Guangdong Provincial Crop Variety Approval Committee in 2015, and approved by the National Crop Variety Approval Committee in 2020. The hybrid rice combinations Shenliangyouhong 3, Liangyouhong 3, and Yingliangyouhong 3, which were bred using Guanghong 3 as the male parent, have been approved by the Guangdong Provincial Crop Variety Approval Committee in 2019 and 2021, respectively.
