In the study, a major R gene Pi46(t) in H4, a broad-spectrum blast-resistant indica accession, was introgressed into Guanghui 998, a good restoring line, through limited backcrossing and self-pollination combined with marker-assisted selection （MAS）. A plant in the BC2F4 population showing good plant-type was selected and named R1198. The resistance spectrum of R1198 to tested blast isolates was largely broader than that of Guanghui 998, agronomic traits of R1198 were totally similar but some different to Guanghui 998.
