Effects of high stubble and low stubble on ratoon rice quality and its relationship to the first season rice quality were studied with 18 middle season rice varieties as materials. The results indicated that the amylose contents and head rice rate of ratoon rice were better than first season rice, and the gel consistency and amylose content of high stubble treatment were better than low stubble treatment.The majority of grain quality traits showed significant or highly significant positive correlation between first season rice and ratoon rice, or different stubble height treatments. The quality of first season rice varieties play an important role on ratoon rice quality.
