This paper studied the effects of different nitrogen rates and nitrogen ratios on yield and grain quality of Suijing 4 （panicle weight type cultivar） and Kenjiandao 6 （panicle quantity type cultivar） by using split plot design. The results showed that the highest yield of panicle weight type cultivar is at nitrogen rate 150 kg/hm2 and nitrogen ratio 7∶3, the highest yield of panicle quantity type cultivar is at nitrogen rate 120 kg/hm2 and nitrogen ratio 7∶3. Reasonable application of nitrogen fertilizer could improve grain quality, especially cooking and eating quality. Under this experiment condition, the nitrogen application of 128 kg/hm2 would gain the best grain quality.
