Xu 98S is an indica dual-purpose genic male sterile line with good quality, ideal plant type, broad compatibility, low fertility critical temperature and excellent combining ability, developed from Pei’ai 64S/Xu 06-16 by low temperature stress under long daylight low temperature condition in Hunan province and short daylight low temperature condition in Hainan province after 5 years selection（10 generations）. Xu 06-16 is a middle material of indica dual-purpose genic male sterile line with excellent agronomic traits. Xu 98S was identified by the Agricultural Department of Hainan Province in 2013.
