Abstract

An investigation of planting status on rice in 2013 was carried out in Hubei Province. It covered 187 rice famers distributed in 46 counties from main production area. The survey indicated that there are numerous problems of rice production including rural labor shortage, rice planting area reduction, time-consuming and laborious traditional planting method, simple and crude fertilization, and unbalanced nutrients application. The article pointed out countermeasures for the existing problem including light simplification, mechanization and rationalization of fertilization, summarized the reasons of decreased enthusiasm and low level of mechanization of rice production at the present situation, and proposed the advantage and research progress of improving mechanical integration on rice production.
