Jingxi Rice is an excellent variety bred by Emperor Kangxi, Yongzheng and Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty. It is planted inside and outside the “Three Hills and Five Gardens”（Royal gardens in Qing Dynasty）, a political center that is equal to the Forbidden City. It has multiple value attributes. Jingxi Rice was called “Royal Rice” at that time. Since 2000, due to the lack of water resources in Beijing and other reasons, the planting area of Jingxi Rice has dropped to about 134 hm², which is endangered. In the process of protection and inheritance, Jingxi Rice was gained distinction of the honor of China’s important agricultural cultural heritage. In the newly revised “Regulations on the Protection of Famous Historical and Cultural Cities in Beijing”, Jingxi Rice was listed in the heritage protection catalogue, and as a logo of educational culture,is gradually infiltrating into the parks, schools, hotels and community in Haidian District.
