    Review and Evaluation of Rice Direct Seeding Technology in Zhejiang Province

    The author reviewed the three stages development of rice direct seeding technology in more than 20 years, analysised the main technical advantages for the obvious labor saving, stable yields, technical support of rice direct seeding, and put forward three major technical problems existing in the production process in Zhejiang Province. Comprehensive evaluation showed that direct seeding rice is a high yield and high efficiency techniques comply with the reguirements of social development, and an important way of future rice  cultivation in China. In the future, the technology of rice direct seeding must be improved by speeding up the research on mechanical hole direct sowing.

    Based on the data from 2009 to 2014, the agronomic traits, yield characters and quality characters of main rice cultivars in Sichuan Province were analyzed, the problems of main rice cultivars were pointed out, and the trend of rice breeding in the future were put forward in the paper.
    Comparative Study on the Content of the Nitrogen-containing Compounds and Soluble Sugar from the Special Colored-rice Cultivars

     In order to find the colored-rice cultivars with stronger aroma synthesis potential among the 7 rice cultivars, nitrogen-containing compounds such as L–proline concentration, total nitrogen concentration, soluble protein concentration, soluble sugar concentration of brown rice were compared and analyzed. The results showed that: according to the total nitrogen concentration in decreasing order, the colored-rice cultivars numbered as Shangnonghongjing, Shangnongheinuo, Hongxiangyu, Baijupei, Lvdao and Heijupei, Hongyujupei. According to the soluble sugar concentration in decreasing order, the colored-rice cultivars numbered as Shangnonghongjing, Hongyujupei, Hongxiangyu, Baijupei, Lvdao, Heijupei and Shangnongheinuo. According to the soluble protein concentration in decreasing order, the colored-rice cultivars numbered as Hongyujupei, Heijupei, Baijupei, Shangnongheinuo, Lvdao, Shangnonghongjing and Hongxiangyu. According to the L-proline concentration in decreasing order, the colored-rice cultivars numbered as Baijupei, Lvdao, Hongyujupei, Shangnongheinuo, Hongxiangyu, Heijupei and Shangnonghongjing; and almost all the differences of the cultivars were significant (p<0.01). What’s more, L-proline concentration of cultivars named Shangnonghongjing, Shangnongheinuo, Hongyujupei and Lvdao correlated their total nitrogen content positively, while L-proline concentration of cultivars named Shangnongheinuo, Lvdao, Heijupei and Hongyujupei correlated their soluble sugar concentration negatively, especially the cultivars named Heijupei and Lvdao correlated significantly; L-proline concentration of cultivars named Shangnonghongjing, Shangnongheinuo, Lvdao, Hongyujupei correlated their soluble protein concentration negatively and correlated their total nitrogen positively. In a conclusion, the cultivars named Shangnongheinuo, Lvdao, Shangnonghongjing and Hongyujupei have the stronger aroma synthesis potential than others.
    Effects of Topdressing N and K Fertilizer in Different Periods on Lodging Resistance of Mid-season Indica Hybrid Rice

    The relationship between rice stem and lodging resistance was studied by topdressing different N and K fertilizer in different periods for Indica hybrid rice Liangyou 6326. The results showed that the smallest lodging index was fertilizered in top 5th leaves, the biggest one was fertilizered in flag leaves in N fertilizer trials; The smallest lodging index was fertilizered in top 2nd leaves, the biggest one was fertilizered in top 3rd leaves in K fertilizer trials. The significance of robust degrees of basal internodes to lodging resistance is as follows: 2nd basal internodes > 1st basal internodes > 3rd basd internodes. The lodging index of stem is effected by follow factors: basal internodes dry weight > basal internodes length > basal internodes wall thickness > basal internodes inner diameter.
    Effects of Different Mode of Ecological Planting and Raising on Rice Quality

    The effects of different mode of ecological planting and raising on rice quality were studied. The results showed that the chalky grain rate and chalkiness degree were significantly decreased in different mode of ecological planting and raising. Meanwhile, amylose content and rice protein content were decreased, but not significantly, the alkali spreading value was increased in ecological planting and raising. Consequently, the mode of ecological planting and raising could improve rice quality.
    Effect of Main Cultivation Factors in Direct Seeding on Agronomic Traits and Yield of Japonica Late Hybrid Rice Yongyou 538

    Using the optimum regression design, the effects of seeding date (X1), seeding rate (X2), urea rate (X3) and nitrogen proportion in various growing stages (X4) were studied on 8 agronomic traits of japonica late hybrid rice Yongyou 538 by direct seeding. The results showed that the order of the cultivation effects was X1>X2>X4>X3. There were various significant effects of seeding date to 6 agronomic traits (full heading date, seed setting rate, yield, etc), seeding rate to 7 traits (maximum seedlings, total grains per panicle, yield, etc), urea rate to 4 traits (tillerings, effective panicles, etc) and nitrogen proportion to 6 traits (plant height, 1000-grain weight, yield, etc), and had interactions among factors. The analysis by the full factorial simulation screen indicated that in order to obtain higher rice yield ≥ 750 kg/667 m2, the optimal cultivation requirements should be adopted as follows: seeding date June 2-5, seeding rate 1.25~1.41 kg/667 m2, amount of urea 36.3~40.0 kg/667 m2, and nitrogen proportion 28%~32% in seedling stage, 32%~28% in tillering stage, 18%~22% in booting stage, and 22%~18% in flowering stage.

It clearly expounded the research contents of the 3D animation system, proposed the main points which could create precondition for the realization of the system objective.
    Effect of Lodging Caused by Typhoon on Grain Yield of Rice in Taizhou

    Rice production is often affected by the typhoon in Zhejiang coastal area. After a typhoon, piece of rice lodging or under water, lead to great loss in rice production. The effects of rice yields lose by uprearing loged rice was studied in rice after typhoon. The results showed that the yield losses was 29.30% after lodging, the yield losses of uprearing lodged rice was 35.47%. Therefore, it is no use for reducing yield losses by uprearing lodged rice.
    Dynamic Analysis of the Small Brown Planthopper over the Years in the Main Producing Areas of Rice in Jiangsu Province

    This study analyzed the light trap catches and field survey data of SBPH from 2000 to 2011 in Danyang and Ganyu, combining with meteorological data, the author used SAS to do correlation analysis between the average monthly temperature, precipitation and annual quantity of SBPH. The main results were as following:(1)Both in Danyang and Ganyu, the most serious year of outbreak of SBPH was 2007, it outbroke in light traps in Danyang and Ganyu at the same period in Spring, the harm caused by the first generation of SBPH in light traps is most serious, and in recent years, the trend occurred in advance, and the hazard caused by 4th, 5th generation has aggravated. (2)The average monthly temperature of overwinters, the average monthly temperature of the first generation adult occurrences and the precipitation of the first generation adult emergence had greater correlation to the annual quantity of SBPH.

    The effects of different planting dengsity, N and K fertilizer appling amounts on rice Kendao 12 yields and its components were studied by rotation composite design of quadratic regression in Suihua, Helongjiang Province. The results showed that the highest yield(9 266.8 kg/hm2) is gained with planting density 277 000 hills/hm2, nitrogen 92.36 kg/hm2, phosphorus 37.5 kg/hm2, potassium 75.8 kg/hm2; the highest points eating quality is gained with planting density 305 000 hills/hm2, nitrogen 70.0 kg/hm2, phosphorus 50.3 kg/hm2, and potassium 90.9 kg/hm2.
    Improving Restorer Lines R225 of Intermediate Amylose Content by Molecular Marker-assisted Selection in Rice

    Quality breeding has become one of the important objectives in rice breeding in China. Selection of genotypes with good quality by molecular marker is an important method of quality improvement. To lower the high amylose content of an elite indica rice restorer line R225, three indica varieties(R122, R998 and R527) with low amylose content were used as donor and backcrossed with recurrent parent R225 respectively, and their backcrosses were identified using a molecular marker RM190. Analysis of genotypes and AC of improved lines revealed that the AC of new lines with new Wx gene were degrated from 25.4% to 11.6%~23.5%. Background SSR analysis showed that the recovery rate of the selected lines reached 81.1%~92.6%. The improved lines can be used as candidate parental lines for breeding of hybrid rice.

    “Main season rice + ratoon rice” has become the main farming pattern of rice production in Changshan County, Zhejiang Province. In October 26, 2014, the average yield of ratoon rice Zhunliangyou 608 in demonstration reached 397.01 kg/667 m2 and approved by the experts. The paper analysised and described its economic benefits, grain structure and key cultivation techniques.
    Comparison of Growth and Yield of Different Ecotype  Japonica Rice and Indica Hybrid Rice along the Yangtze River in Anhui Province

    Field experiment was carried out to study the planting performance of different ecological type japonica rice along the Yangtze River in Anhui province. The results showed that:  both in vegetative growth stage and maturity stage, the plant height are significantly lower than that of indica hybrid rice; japonica rice have short and stiff leaves, erect panicle and high grain density, strong lodging resistance; the leaf growth of japonica rice are significantly faster than indica hybrid rice, and the leave numbers are more than hybrid indica rice in the same heading stage; the tillering ability of japonica rice are weaker than indica hybrid rice, but the spike rate are significantly higher than indica hybrid rice; most japonica rice are middle panicle type varieties, and the effective panicles are significantly more than indica hybrid rice, the 1000-grain-weight are similar to indica hybrid rice, the seed setting rate of japonica rice are higher than that of indica hybrid rice, and easy to achieve high yield in precise and quantitative cultivation. Compared with indica hybrid rice, the late maturing and middle maturing middle season japonica rice have the advantage in yield, and the early maturing late season japonica rice have no advantage in yield.

    Field experiment was carried out to study the effects of sowing date on yield and economic characters of Chunyou 84. The results showed that Chunyou 84 in mountainous southwestern Zhejiang Province for single-season rice planting, sowing between May 20 to June 9 can be normal heading. There were significant or very significant difference of yield and daily yield among different sowing date treatments. With the delayed sowing date, the heading stage and maturity stage accordingly postponed.

    Nei7you 39 is a new indica hybrid rice combination, derived from Neixiang 7A and Neihui 2539, bred by the Hybrid Rice Science and Technology Development Center of Neijiang. It was registered and released to commercial production in Sichuan province in 2012. Nei7you 39 have high and stable yield, fine grain quality, strong blast resistance and wide adaptability, stong regeneration ability. Breeding process, characteristics and key techniques of planting and production of Nei7you 39 are introduced in the paper.

    Shaojing 18 is a new late maturity single cropping japonica rice, bred by Shaoxing Academy of Agriculture Sciences, with high yield, resistance to blast, strong lodging resistance. Its yield hits a new record in conventional late japonica rice varieties planting in Zhejiang Province. The key high yield cultivation techniques of Shaojing 18 are sparse planting, tiller control by drainage and get larger panicles.
    Analysis on Yield Components of Super Rice Shenliangyou 5814 and Its High Yield Cultivation Techniques

    Shenliangyou 5814 is a new two-line combination of indica super hybrid rice, cultivated by Tsinghua Longgang Institute of National Hybrid Rice Engineering Technology Research Center. The effects of yield components on yield were analyzed in this paper. The results showed that the effects of yield components on yield are grain numbers per panicle > effective panicles > seed setting rate >1 000 grain weight. Therefore, the authors proposed the corresponding high yield cultivation techniques in order to achieve the yield potential of the combination.

    Xu 98S is an indica dual-purpose genic male sterile line with good quality, ideal plant type, broad compatibility, low fertility critical temperature and excellent combining ability, developed from Pei’ai 64S/Xu 06-16 by low temperature stress under long daylight low temperature condition in Hunan province and short daylight low temperature condition in Hainan province after 5 years selection(10 generations). Xu 06-16 is a middle material of indica dual-purpose genic male sterile line with excellent agronomic traits. Xu 98S was identified by the Agricultural Department of Hainan Province in 2013.

    Comparative analysis was carried out to find out high yield and stability yield performance of yanjing 13, compared with zhendao14(CK1), huaidao 9(CK2) in yield, coefficient of variation, high stability coefficient, regression coefficients.     R21 is an indica rice restorer with broad restoring spectrum and high combining ability, bred by Sichuan Provincial Jialing Crop Varieties Research Center, Sichuan Zhongzheng Science and Technology Co., Ltd. and Southwest Agricultural University, by the way of earstem injecting, implanting the DNA of sorghum into the receptor Jinhui No.1.  Jiahui 825 is a more optimized restorer researched and developed by Sichuan Provincial Jialing Crop Varieties Research Center, through selecting the single plant from the excellent plant of key restorer R21, by breeding group selection of single plant of mixed varieties, and it has better performances than R21. The hybrid groups by using the varieties of sterile lines Fu 4A, Fu 74A, Ⅱ-23A as the female parent combining with the restorer R21, using Gang 46A, Zheng 67S, Peiai 64S as the female parent combining with Jiahui 825, are approved through series of experiment separately. The main varieties had been bred as follows: Fuyou No.1, Fuyou 21, Gangyou 825, Zhengliangyou 825(had been approved by the state for regional experiment), Liangyou 825(the experiment being carried out at state level in 2014). The varieties have been appropriately applied in the mass production.

     Liangyou 616 is the key super rice for demonstration and extension of Wuping County. The author conducted investigation, path analysis and correlation analysis on its yield components. The results showed that the main yield components were positively correlated with yield, the total grain number per panicle and effective panicles were extremely significant positive correlation with yield, and had greater contribution to yield than seed setting rate and 1000-grain weight. In order to achieve high and stable yield, the cultivation techniques should focus on total grains per panicle and effective panicles per unit area, and promote big spike, coordinate the relationship between the yield components.

    Changnongjing 8 has the characteristics of stable and high yield, prominent comprehensive resistance, fine quality and appropriate maturity. Its high-yielding cultivation techniques by machine transplanting were summarized, which including planting timely, raising vigor seedlings, transplanting reasonable density, increasing the population quality, suitable cultivation method, scientific fertilization and irrigation, integrated disease control.
    Breeding and Cultivation Techniques of Hu LPR18 with Good Quality and High Yield

    Hu LPR18 is a single cropping late japonica rice bred by Crop Breeding and Cultivation Research Institute, Shanghai Academy of Agricultural Science with pedigree method. Its whole growth period is 157 d and the plant height is 88.4 cm. Hu LPR18 has high yield, dwarf plant height, high harvest index, low mount straw and good quality of GB-quality 3, at the same time with low phytic acid that is good for absorption of mineral substances. It was registered and released by Shanghai Crop Varity Approval Committee in 2014, and suitable for cultivation in the Yangtze Rive downstream. This paper introduced its breeding procedure, main characteristics, yield performance and cultivation techniques.

     Xiangzaoxian 46 is a new conventional rice variety, bred by Original seed farm of hejiashan. It was registerrd and released  by Hunan Provincial Crop Variety Approval Committee in 2009. It was planted in Yiyang City of Hunan Province in 2011-2012, showed high-yielding, suitable maturity, good characteristics, good resistance, good grain quality, high price and good benefits. The high-yielding cultivation techniques of Xiangzaoxian 46 was summarized in this paper.
    Report on the Safety Risk of Chlorpyrifos in Rice in Cixi County

     It was an analysis report of the safe use of Chlorpyrifos in rice by gas chromatography and field test. The results showed that the degradation of Chlorpyrifos in rice showed characteristics of early faster , late slower and the half-life of 8.0 d. The study of different concentrations and different time of applying chlorpyrifos showed that the residual period of Chlorpyrifos in rice was more than 45 days, within 30 days before harvest, the use of chlorpyrifos can cause the risk of exceed the standard.
